AESTHETIC MOVEMENT BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATTER

MELBOURNE PATTERN

Gildea and Walker Potteries
Tunstall, Staffordshire England
c. 1883

This delightful Victorian aesthetic 13 " long x 10 1/4 " wide serving platter is transfer printed in brown.
The pattern features delightful Japanesque geometric designs mixed with exotic palm trees and other tropicals. A shoreline with sailing vessels set to the horizon while a large flock of birds fly by.
An inset cartouche of an Owl perched upon a branch as the crescent moon and stars appear behind him. Other inset cartouches had exotic birds, flowers and geometric patterns. This pattern has everything going for it.

The platter is in great condition. Bright shiny and clean.
