Six Stunning Transferware Plates
Brownfield and Sons ~ Staffordshire, England ~ c. 1885
These 6 fabulous plates are crisply transfer printed in brown with hand painting in green, blue and lustre and decorated in an Art Deco pattern with a naturalistic inspiration, a kaleidoscopic design of stylized sunflowers and feathers. The decoration is bright and clear and coveted by collectors. The plate was made by Brownfield Potteries in the Staffordshire region of England.
8 1/4 inches wide.
The plates are in great never used condition. A small glaze chip off the edge of one. Early pieces in this wonderful pattern don't come along often, and the contrast and composition is especially beautiful.
