EARLY BROWN AESTHETIC TRANSFERWARE TRAY or SMALL PLATTER

This is a stunning transferware tray dating to 1883. The small platter measures 67 3/8 " in diameter x 5 1/8 " wide. The color is a rich sepia or wonderful dark chocolate brown. The pattern is named PALMYRA, featuring a fantastic wide, busy band of sunflowers with a background of geometric shapes. The well of the platter has a central flower pot full of oversized sunflowers surrounded by rows of buttercups and geometrical flourishes.
The piece is in great condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, and no repairs. It is absolutely gorgeous - elegant and well potted, with richly detailed transfers reflecting the Victorian love of nature.
