This Victorian aesthetic 8 3/8 " plate is transfer printed in delicious brown. The crisp PHILEAU pattern features delightful Japanesque and geometric designs of the aesthetic movement. Cartouches of many birds and landscapes, waterfalls and cattails, flowering tree branches and a mountainous lake in the full moon light. The pattern captures the Victorian eras love of nature.
The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Turner, a pottery maker working in Tunstall in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
The piece is in great condition, clean and bright. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
