VERY LARGE BLACK AESTHETIC TRANSFERWARE PLATTER
Ridgways Potteries Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire England c. 1877
This very large Victorian aesthetic 18 " long x 14 1/2 " wide platter is transfer printed in black against a creamy white background. This is the largest size platter we have seen in this pattern and especially in Black !
The pattern features some of the most outrageous looking birds the potteries artist could imagine. A rim of wildly tropical flowers with hummingbirds. An ornate oriental garden house sits in the background of the platter with incredible ferns and aquatic flowers and plant, ocean type clam shells and a wonderful flying fish complete this beauty.
Condition is excellent. Very clean and bright. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines, no wear and no repairs. One tiny stilt mark to the outer rim.
