This Victorian 6 " x 6 "tile is transfer printed in brown against an off white background showing good detail and good contrast.
The Aesthetic Movement center tile shows a young man with his fish basket strolling along the sea shore. It is one of a series of seasonal scenes depicting the 12 months of the year, designed in the 1880s by Helen Miles. The images of the months were produced by Wedgwood in the Staffordshire region of England.
Good condition with a nibble to a corner.
This spectacular plate with naturalistic imagery is a stunning addition to any collection of seasons and months series transferware images of country life.
