Stunning Pattern Brown Transferware Plate
Brownfield and Sons ~ Staffordshire, England ~ c. 1885
This is a fabulous plate from the Aesthetic Movement Era. The piece measures 9 1/2 " in diameter. The plate is decorated in an Art Deco pattern with a naturalistic inspiration, a kaleidoscopic design of stylized sunflowers and feathers.
The decoration is bright and clear and coveted by collectors. The piece was made by Brownfield Potteries in the Staffordshire region of England. It is marked and came from a collection that was auctioned at Christie's New York in December 2006.
Never Used. The piece is in EXCELLENT, bright shiny and clean. No chips, hairlines, cracks or repairs. Early pieces in this wonderful pattern don't come along often, and the contrast and composition is especially beautiful in this dark brown color.
