LARGE STAFFORDSHIRE PLATTER
GILDEA AND WALKER POTTERIES Tunstall, Staffordshire England c. 1880
This early large outstanding 16 1/4 " long x 13 " wide platter is transfer printed in brown. A fabulous transfer. . Capturing the Victorian love of nature during the aesthetic movement, this platter is transfer printed with a geometric designs, the sun coming over the horizon, a flock of songbirds, sailboats, flowers and bamboo, an Owl perched upon a branch as the crescent moon and stars appear behind him. My favorite pattern in aesthetic transferware, it has everything.
Perfect for any holiday table.
The condition of this delightful platter is excellent. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines, and no repairs.
