Amazing Set of Six ~ Brown BIRDS Plates ~ 1880

DANCING BIRDS

Choisy le Roi

Luneville, France

c 1880

These stunning transferware plate measure a 9 " in diameter and is transfer printed in chocolate brown.

They are imaginatively decorated with a twig and vine with small flowers outlining three different images of Birds dancing and fluttering. The images are based on gorgeous 19th century copperplate engravings.

The piece resembles the transferware made in the Staffordshire region of England in the early to mid 19th century, but instead it was made by Choisy le Roi (late Creil Monereau) one of the faienceries in the Luneville region of France. French aesthetic pottery is full of whimsy and usually birds, flowers or fruit.

Condition is EXCELLENT, clean shiny and bright. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
