ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SILVER PHOTO LOCKET MOURNING BROOCH 1885
A finely crafted round memorial brooch with an attractive beaded border, the Victorian silver mourning memorial brooch is decorated with an Aesthetic scene of a wading bird among exotic grasses, reeds and bamboo shoots. In Victorian times, the bird symbolized A final journey of the Mortal Soul.
The reverse of the brooch has an intact glass photo locket containing a black and white photograph of an attractive young lady in period dress.
Measuring 1 3/8 inches in diameter, this poignant and emotive Victorian memento, in excellent condition, is fitted with a secure `c' clasp and like many early pieces is unmarked but tests silver.
