Four English Transfer Rice Bowls ~ DAFFODIL 1882

FOUR AESTHETIC MOVEMENT ERA

BROWN TRANSFERWARE RICE or PORRIDGE BOWLS

DAFFODIL PATTERN

W. H. Grindley and Co. Potteries

Tunstall, Staffordshire England

c. 1882

These four Victorian 9 1/4" bowls are transfer printed in dark chocolate brown, we use them for salads or side pasta dishes.

The pattern features impressed flower swag finger tabs along the rim and repeating vignettes of luscious Daffodils. Oversized daffodils grace the well of the cake plate with a landscape scene of a young boy watching a sailing vessel rounding a castle.

The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Grindley, a pottery maker working in Tunstall in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.

Never Used. The pieces are in EXCELLENT condition, clean shiny and bright. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
