VERY LARGE AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATTER
PERAK PATTERN
James Beech, Swan Bank Works Pottery
Staffordshire England ~ c. 1885
This very large Victorian aesthetic 19 3/4 " long x 15 5/8 " wide plater is transfer printed in dark chocolate brown. Larger in width than most platters are long. Perfect for display or a holiday meal.
The pattern features fabulous cartouches of sailboat on a mountain lake and one of quiet secretive buildings hidden in the landscape. All surrounded by flowers and leaves and sunbursts. Wonderful geometric designs along the rim complete this great platter. A rare aesthetic find for the collector.
The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Beech, a pottery maker working in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
The piece is in great condition, clean shiny and bright. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs. A small factory made stilt mark to the front left and a touch of discoloration near the bottom.
