OVAL VERTICAL BROWN TRANSFERWARE LARGE PLATTER

BURMAH PATTERN

W. H. Grindley and Co. Potteries

Tunstall, Staffordshire England

c. 1883

This large Victorian aesthetic 16 3/4 " long x 13 1/4 " wide platter is transfer printed in rich dark chocolate brown. Shape is oval and printed on the vertical.

The pattern features a Japanesque water scene with water lilies and cattails, outrageous bamboo and birds, and butterflies flitting throughout the transfer. A rare bird sits among the water flowers. Geometric shapes mixed with exotic flowers complete the wonderful plate.

Condition is excellent. Clean and bright and shiny. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs. Normal outer rim stilt marks.
