AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATE
NIPON ~ GEESE
Pinder and Bourne & Doulton Potteries
This Victorian aesthetic 7 1/4 " wide plate is transfer printed in light and dark reddish brown.
The clear and crisp aesthetic pattern features flowering cherry blossoms completely encasing an asymmetrical Japanesques ribbon tapestry with exotic geometric designs and a scene of a bird, possibly a Prairie Hen, at the water's edge, eyeing the antics of two chicks at play. A delicious pattern. The pattern displays the victorian eras love of nature.
The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark and trademark that identifies the maker as Doulton, a pottery maker working in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
The piece is in EXCELLENT condition, clean shiny and bright. No cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
