Large and dimensional brooch is dotted with huge, prong set glass cabochons in a jade green color. The central cabochon is encircled with green chatons and the same green chatons are placed along the outside ring of the brooch. This is signed on the reverse as shown "Les Bernard Inc." Diameter is 2 1/4 inches; this stands an inch tall so it is quite dimensional. The overall condition is fine with the exception of a chip noted in one of the cabochons near the prong; the price is adjusted accordingly.
Les Bernard was founded in 1962 by Bernard Shapiro and Lester Joy. Bernard is the son of Harold Shapiro who founded the Vogue Jewelry Co.; Lester Joy was a designer for the company. Like Atwood & Sawyer and other selected companies, Les Bernard manufactured jewelry for the Dynasty television series. Les Bernard also made jewelry for Mary McFadden, James Galanos, and Ugo Correani. They closed their doors in 1996.
