Polished stone and wood necklace measures 28 inches long. It features a slide clasp which was patented in 1969, helping to date this lovely piece to that general time frame. The use of semi-precious polished stones in jewelry was also popular in the early 1970's. The patent number can be seen on the clasp. The necklace is also identified with a hang tag signed MIRIAM HASKELL. A close-up reveals gold tone clam shells and coral; obviously this piece has a sea life theme. A similar necklace can be seen in the book entitled "Costume Jewelry 101" by Julia C. Carroll. This is a great piece from a wonderful company.
