Delightful pot metal fur clip is from the 1940's and features a penguin all dressed up in his 'tuxedo'. Crystal clear rhinestone embellishments are pave' set while other details are enameled. The company Du Jay patented this design but theirs was shown with a pearl belly while this one has a moonstone. It was such popular design that it was copied by others hence the similarity to the Du Jay design. This guy is in great condition with the exception of a bit of enamel wear on one of his eyes. He measures 1 1/2 inches tall and is unsigned.
This clip is featured in Judith Miller's book "Costume Jewelry" (2010) on page 75. She attributes the piece to CORO.
Gender: Unisex, Age Group: Adult, Color: black/pink/yellow/orange, Size: 1 1/2 inches tall
