Gorgeous signed KREISLER brooch matches design patent number 143131 which was issued on December 12, 1945 to KREISLER designers Helen D. Cole and William Diehl for the Jacques Kreisler Manufacturing Company. It features ruby red rhinestones across the top and ruby red center stone. It is further accented by crystal clear rhinestones. Signed KREISLER as shown, it measures 2 3/4 by 1 3/4 inches. A fabulous piece from the 1940's, this looks like sterling but it not marked as such. This is a book piece and can be seen on page 388 of Julia Carroll's book entitled "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202" (2nd edition). The company was founded in 1914 by Jacques kreisler and Marcus Stern. They were known for making fine jewelry and also watch bands. Their jewelry is rare in the collectibles market.
