Featuring a striking geometric design pin, unsigned Lea Stein, but identified with sticker "MADE IN FRANCE". This is a large pin, measuring 3 1/4 inches wide and 1 1/4 inches from top to bottom. When you look at it from the side you can see the layers that typify Lea Stein jewelry. The pin back is heat set; the colors are a mesmerizing combination of copper, gold, and red. This pin probably dates to the early 1980's. Excellent condition.
The jewelry and accessories of Lea Stein were made by layering 200-300 cellulose acetate sheets which are then baked to produce the beautiful designs of Ms. Stein. Lea's husband, Fernand Steinberger, is credited with discovering the process for laminating celluloid which is the hallmark of Lea Stein components. Beginning in the 1960's the company produced hair combs, bracelets, beaded necklaces, brooches, earrings, jewel boxes, buckles, and buttons. Following a brief hiatus in the 1980's the company began making jewelry again and continues to this day.
