Shades of green can be found in this great butterfly brooch from WEISS, signed on an oval cartouche as shown. This piece is in great condition and appears unworn. The wings tremble with the wearer's movements and the trembler mechanisms works perfectly. Impressive size too, measuring 2 1/2 inches at the widest (from wing tip to wing tip) and 2 inches from top to bottom. WEISS butterfly brooches are a favorite among collectors and this one is such a great example. A note about the company: Albert Weiss founded the company in 1942 and he also designed jewelry, having gained experience in the field when he worked for CORO. Michael Weiss continued to operate the company after his father's death until it ceased operations in 1971. The company was especially know for its rhinestone jewelry which is pretty and very well made.
