Hat-tipping clown brooch features enameled and rhinestone accents with resin inserts in a shiny, gold plated setting. Although this brooch is unsigned, it is by Kenneth Jay Lane and can be seen in the book entitled "Warman's Costume Jewelry Figurals" by Kathy Flood (see page 96). It measures 2 3/4 inches tall and is in fine condition.
This is a delightful and popular piece by Mr. Lane. As Ms. Flood states, " Lane's authentic vintage series of funny men includes a clown head, a clown balancing on a ball, and clown tipping his hat. In some, Lane used ivorine for the head, while others have faux jade or coral faces."
