Absolutely amazing 1920's silhouette brooch features a hand painted scene of a young lady with parasol standing near a tree. Possibly this young lady is early for a rendezvous with her lover? The pin itself is ceramic and trimmed in gold leaf; it is prong set into a backing of brass. There are no chips or cracks but there is one section on the back (bottom) of the ceramic where the color has worn off. This is not a chip. This is a huge brooch for this style; it measures 2 3/4 inches from top to bottom by 1 3/4 inches across. The pin back sits on an angle so if you intended to wear this brooch, you would need to fix it to your clothing accordingly so the silhouette on the front would be straight. This is unsigned but definitely hand painted; when you tilt the brooch, you can see how the scene was applied. This is just an amazing piece!
