Older mosaic brooch is signed MADE IN ITALY and features small glass stones (called "tesserae") that are placed into a background-- in this case the setting appears to be brass. These brooches were popular among tourists, and were bought as souvenirs, usually in Rome. This is an older example of an art form that is still being practiced today in Italy, albeit in a much more streamlined and less artistic fashion.
This one probably dates to the 1920's. The condition reflects one missing tesserae, at the very end of the crescent (see photos). The price is adjusted to reflect this.
