This lovely brooch and earrings dates to the mid-20th century when these sets were very popular. This one features pink thermoplastic flowers in a shiny, silver plated setting; crystal clear chatons add a touch of sparkle. The brooch is a nice size, and measures 2 1/4 inches wide; it is signed on the reserve STAR with no copyright symbol. The matching earrings pick up the design of the brooch; they are screw backs, and are also signed STAR on the screw mechanism. The condition is fine with no issues to report. There is a bit of glue residue which is quite common in this style of jewelry but it is minimal (see pictures).
Almost all of the major costume jewelry manufacturers, including Trifari, Boucher, and Coro, produced thermoplastic jewelry in the 1950's; it was colorful, lightweight, and fun to wear. STAR is one of the companies who produced only this type of jewelry.
