Adorable bug brooch from MARVELLA features a large, imitation pearl body with gold plated wings. These are decorated with colorful chatons in ruby red, emerald green, and sapphire blue. The petite pin measures 1 1/4 inches from front to back and 1 1/8 inches wide. Condition is fine with no issues at all.
The company, Marvella, was founded in 1911, and was manufactured by Weinreich Brothers in Philadelphia, PA. They made jewelry for many other companies as well. They are probably best known for their well made faux pearl jewelry and crystal necklaces. In the early 1980's, they were purchased by Crystal Brands Jewelry which which included Monet and Trifari. In 2000 they were purchased by Liz Claiborne, Inc. Jewelry using the Marvella name is still being produced but manufacturing has moved out of the U.S.
