This fantastic silver plated brooch features a winged Pegasus with rider astride. It is signed "Thief of Bagdad Korda" on the back. It also has signs that precede and follow the mark; they are Arab letters. The very detailed pin measures 2 1/2 inches long by 2 inches tall. Condition is fine with no issues. The manufacturer is Rice-Weiner & Company of Providence, RI, which was granted the exclusive right to reproduce jewelry of all kinds based on and inspired by Alexander Korda's 1940 movie "The Thief of Bagdad." The series included bracelets, brooches, necklaces, rings, and earrings that featured exotic characters from the film. You can see additional examples of jewelry from this series in the Brunialti book entitled "American Costume Jewelry Art & Industry, 1935-1950, (N-Z). Unusual find!
This is a book piece and can be seen on page 264 of "Rhinestone Jewelry-Figurals, Animals, and Whimsicals" by Marcia "Sparkles" Brown (2006).
