For sale is this 24" long (doubled) chaplet consisting of 15 groups of 3 beads each, between which are carved beads (7.5mm diameter). An additional 6 beads are added as well as a crucifix.
Originally a different type of this chaplet was granted to the Vincentian Order by Popes Pius IX and X & later withdrawn by the Holy Office in 1912 simply because the indulgences can be gained by using the crucifix alone. The original rosaries had medals representing the stations of the cross.
The beads are not plastic or a resin, but are some sort of polished bone or horn. The rosary weighs 31.6 grams and is silver tone metal with some residue between some of the chain that can easily be cleaned (residue is simply from use).
It dates to the 1920's.
