14k Gold and Opals Hanging Grapes Motif Early 1900's Ring
For sale is this great, signed 14k on shank and tested 14k gold upper portion ring set with 15 round opals that are all original to the setting. The top of the ring has a neat "bunch of grapes" motif and is an unusual two part construction which is undoubtedly how the jeweler was able to do this work without destroying the opals. The ring is currently a size 5, weighs 3.8 grams and has no major damage, but a few of the opals have edge roughness. The descendant of the original owner of this ring assured me that the conversion was done in the early part of the 1900's by her Grandmother. It's difficult to determine what the upper portion was taken from.....a brooch, a buckle or even a pendant. Price is firm.
