1940s Sterling and Gold Filled U.S. Army Air Corps Sweetheart Locket
For sale is this just over 3/4" wide sterling and gold filled locket with the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) emblem on front. This branch of the service was active between 1925 & 1941 and became know as the Air Force after that time. Referred to as Sweetheart Jewelry, many men purchased these during their time in the service to give to their wives or sweethearts. It hangs from a sturdy 16" long gold filled chain, weighs 5.7 grams and still has celluloid covers and metal frames inside locket. No damage or repairs; closes with a snap and no gaps, no dents or dings. There is rose gold trim above the wings.
