While I don't know if it has and religious significance, this beautiful, circa 1870's garnet brooch appears to be in the shape of the Star of David. It is done in four layers of fine Bohemian garnets set in silver (tested 800). The piece has no damage or missing garnets and my first impression was that the clasp might be a replacement, but then I noticed that the tiny braces holding the layers together are the same color as the ovals on the clasp. The brooch weighs 9.8 grams.
April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month; a portion of my sales will go to our local SPCA.
