Offered is this exquisite, vintage 10 light tiered (wedding cake) chandelier with 4 etched glass 'handkerchief' shades. The central ring is very ornate with a heavily embossed, scalloped fan design.
This fixture is somewhat unusual in that it has 4 fitters at the outside that hold shades. Typically, these would come without outside lights, or with upward candle style sockets. Chances are you won't find many like this.
The electric sockets for the shades appear to have been changed at some point in the past, though they are regular electrolier type with bakelite keys, not fat-boys. They work, so they were re-used. All of the other sockets are silver plated and original. There are two on the center pole (one up and one down), four with the shades and four above the tiered part at bottom.
Removed from a Pennsylvania home, boxed and carefully stored for more than 30 years, which was good because it likely saved the silver plate finish from being ruined. It has been cleaned with the finish sealed, fully rewired and is ready to be installed.
Retains the old, original satin silver-plate finish, with some age related wear (dark spots), as you can see from the photos. Appears to have been lengthened with silver or nickle pipe below the canopy, though this was done many years ago, before it was taken down and stored. One of the shades has a chip on the fitter that cannot be seen when installed.
Measures 51-1/2" overall, the body alone about 30-1/2"L, 21"W without shades (diagonally) and about 24-1/4"W with shades.
