Milko Winter (August 7, 1888 – August 15, 1956) was a well-known American book illustrator of the ‘Golden Age of Illustration‘ which occurred in Europe and America in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. He studied at Chicago’s ‘School of the Arts Institute’, and published his first illustrated book, Billy Popgun (1912), a year after graduating. with ‘Houghton Mifflin’. Moved to New York City in the 1950’s.
Winter’s best works include his editions of Arabian Nights, Gulliver's Travels, Tanglewood Tales, Aesop's Fables, Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland And Through The Looking-Glass, The Emperor’s New Clothes,. The Book of Elves and Fairies, Hans Andersen Fairy Tales, Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol and Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.
