This charming TRUE dog story will delight both children and adults. Jingabo the cocker spaniel and a pampered pooch lived with literary agent "Rosalind Cole" at the elegant Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. Jingabo’s adventures even include a run-in with the Windsor’s pug pack and an announced entrance on a ballroom event!

COLLECTOR’S 1964 original vintage stated first edition hardcover children’s hardcover book - The Dog Who Lives at the Waldorf by James Brough and illustrated by Vasiliu. Has original unclipped dust jacket with $3.45 price on flap.

Publisher: Little, Brown, Copyright: 1964 by James Brough and Rosalind Cole, stated first edition, probable first printing. Not ex-library. No isbn.

"Sir Galahad of Riversville ( Jingabo for short) lives on the thirty-ninth floor of the Waldorf Towers, overlooking Madison Avenue, the pigeons and the Hudson River. He is the bachelor half of a family of two, an arrangement made quite legal by the fact that Sir Galahad is, as his 'Ever Loving' tactfully explains, a member of the 'canis sapiens', in other words, a dog. It is his canine journal of seven days at the Waldorf which makes up this delightful book."

You will love the magnificent, humorous black & white illustrations throughout by artist Vasiliu. Outstanding double page endpapers, black & white drawings, highlighted with vibrant red. Photos do not fully capture exact hues and equisite detail; wait until you see up close. WOW!

Rosalind Cole moved into the towers, suite No. 38J in 1961, two years after her husband died and lived there until she passed in 2014. She was the Waldorf Astoria’s longest residing guest. Cole represented many high-profile authors, actors, artists and celebrities, including Andy Warhol, Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Jolie Gabor, Doris Lily, Charlie Chaplin, Jr., George Sanders, and Sybil Leek.

Hardcover, unclipped DJ-$3.45 TDWLATW on flap, vibrant gold leatherette textured boards, illustrated endpapers. MINT unread pages. Binding tight. 68 MINT pages, 9" x 6.25". Fine vintage condition. Pages fine/bright/clean Cover near fine/excellent/bright/clean/light shelfwear. DJ excellent/very good+/bright/clean/mostly light general shelfwear includes sticker removal (see photo).

Do not pass up this out-of-print collector's gem, a bit of Waldorf Astoria, New York history and a must have for all dog lovers, this is a rare book indeed; will make a FABULOUS gift!!
