Fritz Eichenberg (October 24, 1901 – November 30, 1990) was a German-American illustrator who worked primarily in wood engraving. His best-known works were concerned with religion, social justice and nonviolence.
Jane Eyre is a closely observed novel of manners and social morality, a bold first-person account of the the life and experiences of an orphan who endures this stigma as well as that of being a woman in a society divided by both class and gender. Wuthering Heights, the only book by Charlotte's sister Emily, was equally revolutionary, a darkly Gothic tale of overwrought passion, evil and revenge set on the Yorkshire moors.
