Has its original dustjacket - a stiff glassine sleeve with original $6.95 price sticker . Publisher: Grosset & Dunlap Publishers, New York, Copyright: 1947 first edition, 1977 printing. ISBN: 0448060183. Not ex-library. Not the 1980's later reprint.

Many GORGEOUS full page color plates, and full page color frontispiece; each painting a brilliant work of art. Numerous black & white drawings. Stunning vibrant wraparound Illustrated cover. Photos do not fully capture exact color hues and exquisite detail; wait until you see up close. WOW!

Louisa May Alcott lived in Concord, Massachusetts for most of her life. Her early education included lessons from the naturalist "Henry David Thoreau". She received some instruction from writers and educators such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Margaret Fuller, who were all family friends.

Douglas W. Gorsline (1913–1985) was American painter and writer born Rochester, New York. Attended Yale School of Art & Art Students League of New York. Taught at National Academy of Design in New York City before moving to France in 1964. First American artist invited to China (1973). Work was exhibited regularly in United States, France, Belgium and Germany. Received many awards, works in several museums and private collections. The Gorsline Museum opened in 1994 at Bussy-le-Grand, in Côte-d'Or, France.

Heavy hardcover, stiff glassine sleeve/dust jacket, original price sticker flap $6.95. Beautiful wraparound color pictorial boards with front gilt titles, spine gilt titles on top blue rectangle box. Vibrant blue endpapers. 385 unused MINT pages. Measures 9 1/2 " x 7". Binding tight.

Fine vintage condition. Pages fine/bright/clean-minimal wear if any-nothing we see. Hard to find an interior looking so nice. Cover near fine/bright/clean/light shelfwear includes one bumped corner. DJ very good/some shelfwear includes scuffing/ few tears edge-flap.

Do not pass up this must have gem; will make a FABULOUS gift!!
