Collector's 1971 hard-to-find stated first printing cookbook - Italian Family Cooking. Yellow hardcover with original unclipped dust jacket $8.95 on flap, pages mint, was never used in a kitchen. Publisher: Random House, NY, Copyright, 1971, first edition, stated first printing. ISBN: 0394-46242-4. Not a reprint. Not ex-library. Not bomc/bce. This gem was never used in a kitchen!

Chef and Italian painter Edward Giobbi has written down and tested for the American kitchen, recipes from his mother, father, aunt, uncle and Tomasso, whose sauces none of the women in the neighborhood could duplicate. Interwoven with these recipes are moving and provocative stories of a loving, poverty stricken Italian family to whom food was a sacred thing, and who lived with a special joy in the basic matters of life.

MAGNIFICENT color, black & white drawings, and collages by Giobbi's children. Giobbi: "Drawings were done by my three wonderful children - Cham, Lisa & Gena; I will simply say its the best illustrated Italian cookbook I have ever seen. All the dishes were known by my children, by color, form and taste". Photos do not fully capture exact colors; wait until you see up close. WOW!!

Food is family fare home style, healthy and hearty ingredients, prepared in imaginative and easy-to-follow Italian recipes, many of which have never appeared before in the United States. Wonderful thick vegetable soups, many unusual fish, seafood and chicken dishes lovingly and simply concocted, and a special use of pasta that will entice all cooks.

Edward Gioachino Giobbi is also an American artist. Giobbi's paintings and other renderings mostly appear in collections in Italy but also the U.S. His works have been shown in solo and group shows featuring a range from abstract impressionism to pop art. Awards include the Guggenheim Fellowship for Creative Arts, US & Canada.
