These miniature book banks have been in a private collection for 25 years. They were originally issued by banks and insurance companies during the 1920's and 1930's and are difficult to find. Each has a coin slot and a key hole, although no keys are included, as the banks and insurance companies usually held on to them in the hopes that once the book bank was full, the customer would return and make a deposit. In this set of three, the first book bank is Williamsburgh Saving Bank in Brooklyn, NY. It is yellow with red etching. On the front, there is a raised picture of the bank, and on the back, the name and address of the bank are in raised lettering. The second book bank is The Prudential Insurance Co. of America in Newark, NJ. It is burgundy with raised lettering on the front. The third and final book bank in this set is The Dime Savings Institution in Newark, NJ. It is red with black etching. The lettering on the front is raised. All three banks display some minimal wear due to usage over the years, but are in good condition. Please see the pictures for further clarity. Each measures 3 5/8" in length x 2 1/4" in width and 1/2" in depth.
