A wonderful little Bleuette girl, I have had the fortune of coming across this this past month, and this girl is certainly a real little sweetheart.

The Bleuette doll debuted in France in 1905 and was first made available to readers of the girls' magazine La Semaine de Suzette, or the English version, "Suzette's Week". The first Bleuette dolls are known as "Premiere Bleuette", and were given free to those who had placed an order for a year's subscription to La Semaine de Suzette before its first publication in February 1905. After the initial advertisement, 60,000 subscriptions were received, and the first supply of dolls was gone before the first issue was even released, breaking Jumeau’s record of 20,000 dolls ordered from the initial advertisement. The magazine included clothing patterns specifically for the Bleuette dolls, intended to teach young girls sewing and dressmaking. This made the Bleuette wildly popular and this girl is a gem of an example as to why they were so beloved! She's cabinet ready and delicious. We love her sweet face and her striped and flower dappled pink dress. What a find! With our flexible layaway plan, you can take up to nine months to pay for her. Grab her before she's marked sale pending!

She has a bisque socket head on a fully jointed composition French SFBJ doll body with the incised 2 on the rear torso and a "1" on the sole of her left foot. Icy blue stationary eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, tapered, multi stroke brows, open mouth with four upper teeth, and pretty blonde mohair wig with short bangs and styled half up half down, with a light pink fabric peony hair accessory. Dressed in an adorable vertically striped antique cotton dress with a mix of thick and thin stripes and small red flowers dappled throughout, with a large floral lace collar and lace at the shoulders. Underneath she wears a wool and cotton lace trimmed half slip, and her original antique cotton half slip and pantaloons. On her feet, are a pair of fabulous cream cloth shoes with ribbon rosettes and faux pearl accent. We are including her original dress and hands in your package as well, because how could we separate them!

MARKS: (on head) SFBJ 60 PARIS / 8/0
(on body) 2 (lightly on the back)
1 (on the foot)

CONDITION: This adorable head is in fine condition with a repaired lower eyelid chip left lower eyelid. Otherwise, the head is free of hairlines, cracks or other factory flaws, and has beautiful painting of the features, crisp modeling of the very desirable face with original blue paperweight sleep eyes. There is some inherent grainy-ness to the bisque. The original body had replaced and repainted hands but otherwise is in very fine original condition, retaining most of its shiny finish. Here is your chance to own one of the hottest dolls in today’s antique doll market! Why get a reproduction when you can have "The Real McCoy?"

****Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
