She has a bisque shoulder head with blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, brown feathered brows, and an open mouth with four upper teeth. She stands at 22” tall on her original kidskin body, with fully jointed wood and composition arms, and pin-jointed legs. She has her original plaster pate under an antique brown human hair wig, worn short.
She wears a gorgeous white cotton dress, with pleats at the bodice, framed by white lace in a bib-collar pattern, with three tan buttons, lace trim at the collar, shoulders, sleeves, and hem, with lace overlay on the skirt and sleeves, and attached ties at the waist. Underneath, she wears an antique white cotton half slip with lace trim and a pair of white cotton pantaloons. On her feet are a pair of white knit socks and tan flocked shoes. On her head is a white crochet bonnet.
MARKS: 11. Dep. 154 [incised, back of head, other marks may be hidden under kidskin]
CONDITION: The bisque head is free of any cracks, chips, hairlines, or restoration, and is wonderfully molded and painted into the classic Kestner 154 face. The kidskin body has some age-related wear, but is generally sturdy and free of repairs. The wood and composition arms have areas of touchup and age wear, but otherwise retain much of their original finish. Her eyes sleep well, and are aligned well in the head. The costume is good, with some age wear, particularly to the silk areas of the dress and the braid trim. Overall, she’s a great example of a desirable Kestner 154!
