Isn’t she just precious? There is nothing so magical as a baby's first smile. And this smile is made all the more magical by her frothy pink gown and huge lacy bonnet! This girl is a wonderful example of the SFBJ 236 character mold, known as the “Laughing Jumeau.” She’s absolutely picture-perfect, and the perfect little cabinet size, too. She’s looking for a new parent to love her and take her home! Make her the star of your collection.
~Yes, she is available on layaway! Take up to six months to pay for this sweet girl! Just let us know at checkout that you need time to pay, or give our office a call at 718.859.0901~
She has a bisque socket head with deep blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, tapered light brown brows, an open-closed laughing mouth with two upper teeth and a sculpted tongue, and a delightfully molded character expression. She stands at 8.5” on her original five-piece bent-limb baby body, and wears an antique blond human hair wig, in a short straight style.
She’s dressed in a lovely pink organdy dress, with a voluminous skirt and puffed sleeves, white lace trim at the collar, and white lace overlay down the middle of the bodice and across the middle of the skirt. Underneath, she wears a pink organdy half slip, decorated with white dot flowers and a stripe of pink rick-rack trim above the hem, as well as a pair of white knit short pantaloons. On her feet are a pair of white knit booties with pink ribbons tied in bows around the ankles. On her head is a pink bonnet, with pink and green flower trim across the brim, and three huge ruffles of white lace at the brim, along with multiple pink ribbon ties in the back. Simply darling!
MARKS: SFBJ / 236 / PARIS / 20 [incised, back of head]
CONDITION: The bisque head has a hairline on the left side, which is clearly visible in the photos, but well hidden under the wig. The head is otherwise free of any cracks, chips, or restoration. The glass eyes sleep well, and are aligned well in the head. The original body has touchups, mainly to the arms, and age wear to the rest of the body. The costume is wonderful, and fits her well. Simply a wonderful example of this classic SFBJ character!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
