He has a bisque socket head, with blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, thin feathered brown brows, an open-closed mouth with a molded tongue, and a dimpled chin, with an adorably sculpted round chubby face. He stands at 16” on his antique fully-jointed wood and composition toddler body, and wears a soft pale blond mohair wig.
He wears a vintage pair of blue and white striped cotton overalls over a white cotton shirt with drawn- and whitework embroidery along the collar and sleeves with scalloping, above the sleeve cuffs, and under the collar and down along the feather-stitched placket. The middle front of the shirt is decorated with vertical pin-tucks. On his feet are a pair of white knit socks with two blue stripes at the tops, and a pair of blue shoes. On his head is a white cotton sailor’s beret, with a brown and blue ribbon band and a brown bow at the back. In his hand, he has a vintage tin horse, painted a yellow-tan color, with black hooves, a reddish-brown molded and painted saddle and reins, and a red saddle blanket and mouth, with a black cord under the chin, and a hole for a wind-up key on the right side. The front legs move, but the back legs are stationary.

CONDITION: The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration, with wonderful molding and painting of a delightful character face. His glass eyes sleep well, and are aligned well in the head. The fully-jointed wood and composition body has retained much of its original shiny finish, with areas of expected age wear, particularly at the joints, and some repair work to the left knee joint. The costume is good; the shoes have been painted blue from their original chartreuse. The tin horse is in mostly good condition, with areas of wear to the chromolithograph paint, missing ears, a missing key, and a missing rider. Overall, a wonderful doll with an adorable presentation!
