When I first saw this face, I fell in love! What a delightful expression on this beautiful doll. She is an exceptional example of the Sonneberg 156 model. Those tender lips and and her inquisitive brown set eyes are masterfully depicted in a squat round face with a healthy blush. The overall expression is simply timeless and priceless. Add to that her fine original fully jointed French body and her gorgeous pink couture frock and you've got an award winner! If you are particularly fond of German Girls for the French Trade (and honestly, everyone should be!) then snap up this lovely rare character child before she is gone. We absolutely adore her.
***This sweet girl is available on layaway. Take up to eight months to pay! Give us a call anytime at 718-859-0901 to hear an in hand description of her condition and/or to discuss layaway terms!***
She has a bisque socket head with pretty large brown fixed eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, brown feathered brows, a closed smiling mouth with accented lips, and pierced ears. She stands at 16” tall on her original fully-jointed French body, and wears a lovely vintage light brown French Bravot human hair wig.
She is dressed in a lovely modern-made dress, bearing a maker’s label reading “Agnes A. Daisey.” The dress is in two parts- the outer layer is pink brocade, with a woven-in golden pattern, a panel of white lace at the chest, maroon piping at the sleeves, with two rows of piping along the chest panel and down the front of the dress around five maroon buttons, and a big red bow at the back. The bottom of the pink dress is gathered up at the sides, and held with pink tabs with red buttons. Under this dress is a red pleated skirt attached to a white bodice. Underneath, she wears an antique white cotton chemise with lace trim, and a pair of antique white cotton pantaloons, with eyelet lace trim. On her feet are a pair of antique white net socks and antique brown leather shoes with laces and brown pompoms at the toes. On her head is a modern-made maroon velvet hat decorated with a spray of silk flowers, with ruched pink silk under the brim, a ruffle of white lace around the head, and white ribbon ties, and she wears a pair of pink and faux pearl round glass bead earrings.
CONDITION: Excellent. Her bisque head is perfect, free of any cracks, chips, hairlines, or restoration, with excellent modeling and painting depicting a sweet face. Her original set glass eyes are aligned well in the head. Her original body retains much of its original shiny finish, with some areas of wear, especially at the joints, and some repair and repaint to the toes of the right foot. Her costume is in great condition, besides a stain on the front of the skirt that is mostly obscured by the dress, and fits her well. WOW! Tuck her in a little corner of your heart and love her forever!
