Cuno and Otto Dressel made some rather delightful bisque-head child dolls, with this rare girl being one such example; Perhaps you are familiar with the Kammer & Reinhardt “Mein Liebling” flirty child made by the popular German firm. Well this charming COD is an out and out copy of that very popular and successful doll, down to the high knee flapper body! An obvious knock-off contemporaneous to the original and yet so rare and charming in today’s collectible doll arena. This beautiful angel is in great condition, and a great way to add a rare beauty with a unique story to your collection!

She has a lovely bisque socket head with blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, thin, feathered brown brows, a dimpled chin, and an open mouth with four upper teeth. She stands at 20.5” tall on her original high-knee teenage flapper body with slant hip joints, and wears an antique French auburn human hair wig.
She is dressed in a handmade antique-style grey silk dress, with a cream-colored lace bib down the front of the bodice, three tiers of ruffles on the skirt, and cream-colored lace trim at the sleeves, shoulders, and hems of all the skirt ruffles, as well as a pink satin sash at the waist. Underneath, she wears an antique white cotton full slip and pantaloons, both with lace trim. On her feet are a pair of white stretch net stockings and antique cream-colored leather shoes with replaced pink rosettes at the toes. On her head is a light pink wired hat, covered with white lace, with a scalloped overhang at the brim and a pink feather.

CONDITION: Excellent. She has a lovely quality smooth powdery bisque head, free of cracks, chips, hairlines, or restoration, with expert and fine decoration of features and wonderfully sculptured modeling of an adorable face with character expression. The head does, however, have some minor rubs and a wig pull at the top of the head. The eyes sleep well, with good alignment. The original body is in good condition, but does have some body touch ups and a reinforced and repainted finger. The costume is in excellent condition, with only minor and expected age wear. A captivating doll with the desirable look of the K & R Mein Liebling 117n which was an obvious knock-off contemporaneous to the original and yet so rare and charming in today’s collectible doll arena. This is a fine and lovely version of this desirably rare doll! Who knows when another one like this will come to the market?
