14” Super Rare Armand Marseille Character “FANY” TODDLER

Ladies and gentlemen, we are delighted to offer for sale this extremely rare and elusive Armand Marseille character child doll that is seldom found and so sought after by the connoisseurs of German character children. Presenting "Fany!" If you are interested in acquiring a doll that treads the fine line between plaything and a historically important work of art, you have found a prime example in this doll. There is no element of expression left un-captured by the artist in this face; from the deep and crisp modeling of the slightly shy closed mouth, to her sensitive blue glass sleep eyes with delicately painted lashes and feathered brows. The rubs on her face attest to the constant love and attention this little cherub has experienced throughout her long life.

This doll is a living portrait that will breathe life into any display. I am bereft that I must sell her as I am sure that I will miss her dearly when she leaves. She is presented in a delightful antique dotted Swiss dress and on a delightful toddler body,

She has a beautiful bisque socket head on a fully jointed composition and wood toddler body with slant hips and with original finish. She has her original blue glass sleep eyes with delicate painted upper and lower lashes and feathered brows as well as a lovely blond mohair wig. Her closed mouth has a slight pout to it the collectors find super charming.

Dressed in a sweet antique cream dotted Swiss dress with lace trim and floral applique, vintage underwear, white cotton knit socks , two tone leather shoes, a pretty pink sash and matching hair bow.

CONDITION: Generally Very good. Good quality bisque with well defined features and expert painting of wonderful character face, pleasant color, solemn expression well modeled and on the more desirable toddler body with excellent original finish with very minor age wear. There are some rubs to the face and nose tip indicating a well-loved doll. While the antique toddler body is appropriately sized, it is not her original body and the perfect hands are appropriately sized antique replacements. That said, this is a very rare and sought-after doll from the coveted Armand Marseille character dolls series. Not many of them were made, elevating this character to a very desirable status. A wonderful “Fany” toddler with all the charm and appeal that has made her a highly coveted doll in the antique collectible doll market today! A real Prize!!!!
