This particular German girl stands at 12.5” tall, with a wax over papier-mache shoulder head construction, with original set paperweight eyes in a deep brown, and a rare open mouth with teeth. She has her original fixed blond mohair wig, and stands on her original cloth body, with composition arms and lower legs with molded and painted high button boots. She’s adorned her entirely original costume including a snood! She would make a wonderful addition to any collection of earlier antique dolls.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition. The wax over paper mache head does have some minor to moderate wear, although it is not to be unexpected, as these types of dolls are generally some of the older dolls available, and have thus sustained much wear over the many years. Wax is also a rather delicate material; this is seen in the case of this particular doll with some pressure-related texturing to her face. The eyes are good, and set well, with bold dark brown irises. Her original costume is too frail to be safely removed, so her condition underneath has not been assessed. The costume has some age wear, particularly fraying of the silk detailing and deterioration to the lace. The clothing completely covers the cloth body. Her lower arms are in excellent condition, with only the most minor age wear; her feet were broken and stably reattached, and there is some surface crazing and chipping of the paint. The wig is soft and supple, with a nice blond color, and is firmly affixed to the head; the condition of the head under the wig has therefore not been assessed. Please look at the photos closely when inspecting the doll’s condition, as these types of dolls generally suffer quite a bit of wear over the years!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
