If you are a collector only interested in the Creme De La Creme, the best of the best, then you are in the market for a 1339 of this caliber. In this wonderful 25" size, she's big enough to cuddle, but small enough to fit in your best doll cabinet! She’s wearing a lush vintage red velvet dress, with crisp modeling that will have you swooning! I have always loved the rarer Simon & Halbig molds for the quality of craftsmanship and the early character looks they often display. This particular mold has a sweet and serious look about her that is truly captivating. The 1339 mold was made by Simon and Halbig for the doll body manufacturers at Louis Lindner & Sons. I remember reading somewhere (but I don't remember exactly where) that she was marketed for the South American trade and perhaps this addresses the slight variation and departure from the standard dolly face appearance that many of the Simon & Halbig dolls have.

She stands at 25”, with a bisque socket head on a fully jointed composition and wood body. She has gorgeous blue sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, feathered and molded brown brows, an open mouth with four upper teeth, and pierced ears with earrings. She wears a lovely brown mohair wig, in a curly style.
She is dressed in a very pretty vintage red velvet dress, with a cream-colored sash, woven with a diamond pattern and gathered at regular intervals, and a cream-colored antique handmade detachable lace collar. The dress is lined with pink satin, and features a pink net underskirt. Underneath, she wears a white cotton half slip, trimmed with tucks and lace, and a pair of white cotton pantaloons. On her feet are a pair of white rayon socks and antique white leather boots with red laces. Finishing off the ensemble is a red silk bow and a pair of earrings with red glass and faux pearl beads. Just a darling presentation for this elusive gem!

CONDITION: Excellent. The head has fine quality evenly lovely bisque with expert and delicate painting of features, and crisp modeling of a very attractive and desirable rare character face. She has no cracks, chips, hairlines, or restoration, but she has a small flake on each ear by the earring holes, some rubs on both cheeks and some inherent peppering to the nose and between the brows. The body is in excellent shape, with the original shiny finish, and some age-related wear and touch-ups, especially to the joints. I just love this mold—Her face is so alive and the quality of craftsmanship is outstanding. These rare molds come along so infrequently so if you are a connoisseur of rare dolls do not overlook this wonderful opportunity. A doll like this usually lists for $1000 to $2000; we’re selling her here for much less!
