She has a bisque socket head with painted and molded features: brown glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, real upper lashes, an open mouth with four upper teeth, pierced ears, and blushed cheeks over a pale complexion. She stands at 29” tall on a fully-jointed wood and composition body, and wears a fluffy dark brown mohair wig in tight curls that come down to her shoulders.
She wears an antique white cotton antique dress, decorated with Broderie Anglaise, with a lovely floral motif at the bodice, an inset panel of embroidered net with leaf-like solid designs, and a scalloped hem with a netted floral pattern. Underneath, she wears a white cotton half slip, with a fine net lace trim, a simple white cotton chemise with a small windowpane pattern above the hem, and a pair of white cotton pantaloons with eyelet lace trim. On her feet are a pair of white knit socks and antique white leather shoes. On her head is a pink silk bow, matching a pink silk sash around her waist, and in her ears are a pair of earrings with faux pearls and faceted brown glass beads.
MARKS: K&R [with six-pointed star] / SIMON & HALBIG / 76 [incised, back of head]
W. [incised, top of forehead]
CONDITION: Excellent! The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration, with the most particular attention paid to her painting and modeled-features. She does, however, have a slight flake at the left earring hole, as is typical for pierced ears. The glass eyes sleep well, with good alignment, and the lashes are very full, but have been trimmed short. The wood and composition body has held up well over the years, with some scrubbing to the surface, mainly at the hands and forearms. The costume is in great condition, with only the most minor and typical wear. The wig is soft and supple, with a nice silhouette, with no smoke odors. Overall, this is a beautiful doll!
