She has a bisque socket head, with painted and molded features, in the AM 1894 model. She has brown glass sleep eyes, with painted upper and lower lashes, brown multistroke brows, an open mouth with four upper teeth, a slightly dimpled chin, and pierced ears. She wears a blond mohair wig, worn with the top section pulled into a ponytail, and two braids at the sides, pulled back to meet in the middle, with the rest of the hair loose. She stands at 17.5” tall on a stamped Heinrich Handwerck fully jointed wood and composition body.
She wears a nurse’s costume, consisting of an antique blue and white striped dress with white cuffs on the sleeves, a crisp white antique pinafore with a red cross pin, and a white cotton cap. Underneath, she wears a pair of white cotton pantaloons. On her feet are a pair of white knit socks and white shoes. In her ears are a pair of earrings with round blue glass beads.

CONDITION: Generally excellent. The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. The eyes sleep well, with good alignment, while the molded and painted features are nice and precise, for an overall cute doll face. The body is good, with most of the original finish and the Handwerck stamp, and good sturdy stringing. “Sweet Janice” has been written on the back of her torso in black ink, which does not appear to be original. The wig is soft and supple, with no smokey odors, and fits the doll well. The costume is good, with only minor and typical wear. The cap is a replacement, made of antique materials. Overall, this is a great doll!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
