This precious girl is so full of hope and child-like anticipation; she looks like she is about to jump out of her century and into our arms!! Her big blue eyes are penetrating and imploring and her cute pert mouth seems about to utter a sweet French phrase that we are expected to understand. How many little and big girls have spoken to her, held her in their arms and whispered back sweet phrases to her? I wonder! Her blond human hair curls are the golden shade of perfectly-baked puff pastry, framing a rosy face with sleep eyes as blue as sugar forget-me-nots. Her dress is a real showstopper: in steel blue with tiny white dotted prints and accented by a delightful row of hand-embroidered white flower buds at the hem. Indulge your sweet tooth with this delectable princess!

The French DEP Bebe is a prized jewel among doll collectors; revered for their cheery expressions, their quality German bisque and modeling, and their French history. No wonder these little beauties are highly-sought after. When the Jumeau factory could no longer operate independently in 1899, they united most of the French doll manufacturers and formed the SFBJ (Société Française de Fabrication de Bébé & Jouets 1899-1958). The first Director being German, sourced many parts from Germany, including the DEP heads made by Simon & Halbig. However the eyes were inserted in France and the dolls were assembled on French doll bodies in France as well. Often they are stamped "Tete Jumeau" as this one is, in which case they are more desirable.

This particular angel stands at 18" tall, with a fine quality bisque head, and an expression that just begs you to take her home! She has her original French blue glass sleep eyes, that stare off longingly into the distance; (perhaps looking for a new friend?) Her original wood & composition French body is fully-jointed, and she is adorned in a sweet blue cotton dress with cream sash, white undergarments, , original cream net socks and brown leather Jumeau style shoes with brown silk rosettes. Atop her head is a sweet vintage straw hat bedecked with cloth flowers and a black velvet band. She is all you could ever ask for, and in such wonderful condition, she is simply irresistible! Make her yours!

She has a bisque socket head with beautiful deep modeling and expert painting, with blue glass sleep eyes, framed by painted lower lashes and real upper lashes, feathered and slightly molded brows, and an open mouth with four upper teeth, with lightly blushed cheeks, pierced ears with original milk-glass stud earrings. She wears a top quality French blond human hair wig, with banana curls. She is on her original antique wood & composition fully-jointed French, fully pose-able body!

MARKS: DEP (incised) / TETE JUMEAU (red stamp) / 7

CONDITION: Generally Excellent! Gorgeous quality bisque with expert and delicate painting of features, crisp and deep modeling of an absolutely gorgeous face, pleasant color. The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. The original glass eyes sparkle and are with great pupil alignment, and sleep well with original hair lashes still intact. The wood & composition body has is in remarkably great shape as many of these bodies from this period tend to flake and chip with age. This body retains its shiny original finish and is in pristine condition save for some minor flaking mostly on the right hand and touched-up. The later costume is in great condition overall, with nice presentation. Overall, she's a beautiful girl worthy of any collection, large or small!
