This charming boy has a bisque socket head with blue glass set eyes, thick brown multistroke brows and painted upper and lower lashes, and a slightly open mouth with three teeth. He stands 8 ½” tall on his original straight-limb composition body with painted and molded shoes. On his head is his original blond human hair wig, worn in a short style.
He wears his original costume: a black velvet jacket, with lace-trimmed white cotton sleeves, a maroon silk sash embellished with a crown, two leaves, and golden fringe on either end and closed with a gold-tone oval pin, and a white waistcoat, with black velvet pants. Underneath, he wears a white short-sleeved undershirt with a high collar and lace trim on the sleeves. His molded and painted shoes are black with red trim, and include painted white socks with red stripes. On his head is a black felt hat with a maroon velvet ribbon.
MARKS: [none visible]
CONDITION: There are no issues with the bisque, which has high-quality modeling and painting of features, with no hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. His left eye has an issue with the size and placement of the pupil, inherent to the glass blowing process. The body has minor and expected age wear. There is some discoloration and wear to the paint on his feet. The costume is good, with only minor wear; this is to be expected with antique and vintage doll clothing, but overall, the costume is great and presents well!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
